What We Did
The Harringtons is a four year multi phase development which will be made up of 230 desirable new homes, a mix of private and affordable dwellings, with a wide selection of two, three and four bedrooms built with the local community in mind. The mix of New Heritage Collection homes, designed for the dynamics of family life, is sure to attract couples and families from across the region.
Work commences in February 2013 and is expected to take four years for the site to be completed. The roofing area for each unit is approximately 80 square meters and the roof covering specified for the development is Russell Highland tiles. Russell Highlands are a traditional looking flat roof tile made from concrete with a mock joint which gives the appearance of small slated or tiles, when laid broken bonded. Concrete tiles were developed and produced to provide a cost effective alternative to the clay tile offering longevity, durability, and versatility. The tiles interlock and laid as a single lap providing good coverage, they are quick and easy to install, reducing labour time and cost. They are available in a range of colours to add variety to the development.
One of the challenges Western Counties Roofing face for this large project is the production pace and national tile shortage, due to our strong supply chain and our own merchants outlet in the south west we are able to minimise material procurement times, however communication is essential to the smooth running of this process and knowing in advance when roofs are coming ready. Western Counties Roofing deploy a team of two to four tillers and a leadsmith to waterproof the perimeters and abutments.
